Attention: Car Club Officers and Members
Our 1941 Cadillac Coupe “Pension Check” was honored this
year by receiving “Best of Show” at your wonderful car
show. We would like this time to tell you how we came to
enter your show, how much we enjoyed your show, the
festival and what this award means to us.
First of all we had seen your advertisement and entry
form in the Northwest “CruZin’” magazine. My compliments
on an especially attractive and eye catching ad!
We sent in our fee and entry form, got on-line and
reserved a room at a Polson hotel and
this is where our excitement began!
Information had been given to us that Hwy 93 was under
construction, so I looked at a map to check out
alternative routes. I saw that Hwy 135 off of 90 looked
interesting. So we planned 90 to 135 and then 200 East
to 28, then to Elmo and down on 93 to Polson. What a
beautiful drive! The road was excellent and the entire
route shouted “Welcome to Montana”. The Cadillac purred
and the scenery was breath-taking.
Flathead Lake welcomed us with its awesome views…and
Polson…well, we were so “in awe” of your little town,
that we drove around for hours just finding where
everything was and to feel our way around. First things
first…FOOD! Then we went and checked into our motel.
We went on the Poker Run (this was a first for us) and
the merchants that participated were GREAT! Our personal
rating of the Poker Run is an A+++!
The "Bop a dips" performance in the park was so enjoyable
and we particularly got a bang out of a bunch of gals
dancing that cruised in from Seaside, Oregon decked out
in their “Bikini Ladies” T-Shirts. Sitting on the grass
and watching the show with the river in the background
was just spectacular.
The Car show we thought was well run and organized and
you certainly had a huge crowd of people enjoying the
show. We met people from all over the Northwest region!
The people from the Flathead Lake area made us feel
welcome and were the nicest and friendliest we have ever
encountered. So, with this prideful feeling and
happiness in our hearts…we didn’t think we could be much
happier – Until we came back from lunch at the Bakery
and were notified that our car had won “Best of Show”. I
don’t think I have ever seen Mel more choked up and
nervous in our 46 years of marriage! What a highlight of
our journey to Polson!!!
We took in the Jan and Dean concert and the Mud Races
and just thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
Please tell the club members, Show organizers,
merchants, Poker Run organizers, and anyone else I may
have left out – CONGRATULATIONS ON A JOB WELL DONE!
We will be back to your show next year and also to
return the traveling TROPHY! We have had so much fun
over the Electrolux! It is an AWESOME AWARD! The guys
that put it together are pretty creative…we would have
liked to have been a fly on the wall when they came up
with the idea! Ha, ha!
One last question – we noticed that last years Best of
Show recipient’s name wasn’t on the trophy yet. If we
can EXACTLY match the others and you could send us His
name and car information we will see that it gets on the
trophy and we will have ours put on also…then it will be
all done when we come next year. We would love to donate
the cost to do it.
If we can’t for some reason match the name tags
exactly…we will not attempt to do so and will see that
you get the trophy back well ahead of the show time to
have them both done!
Until we hear from you we remain two people from Mount
Vernon, Washington that returned from the 2006 Mission
Valley Cruiser’s Car Show with the biggest smiles on our
faces and so much happiness in our hearts.
Thank you again…and again, congratulations on a
wonderful show!
Sincerely,
Mel and Pattie Pleas
